Car parking – Some questions you’ll need to ask yourself around car parking are: Will your customers and employees need to drive to get to you? If so can adequate parking be provided? Will there be an adequate area for dropping off and picking up children? Will you be seen to be placing extra burden on existing infrastructure?

Location – Did you know your plan for a child care centre might be stopped before it has begun because the location is not appropriately zoned for a child care centre? Other things for our town planners and designers to consider include the character and ‘amenity’ of the area.

Traffic generation – Child care centres, particularly, tend to generate traffic and specific times of day. How much traffic will you generate and how will it impact the existing infrastructure? Are you servicing parents of a specific area or might you provide childcare for children whose parents do not live or work nearby?
4.
Layout and design to accommodate the child care centre may require physical changes to the building – Do you plan to make structural changes to the building that may require a separate approval? Will changes be required to make the structure safe for the proposed use?
