So you’re looking to build a granny flat and a garage, or maybe a granny flat in a garage. My name is Colin Fragar from Council Approval Group. And I’d love to share with you today some tips and tricks based on the thousands of projects that we’ve done.
Some of these projects I’ve done myself and I’d actually like to start out with that. So I’ll share with you a few photographs of some of the projects that I’ve done, personally, to show you what’s possible. I want to expand your mind and to show you some of the cool designs that we’ve done and some things you may not have thought of.
Granny Flat Example
So this first photograph here is a photograph of one of the properties that I did, which has an attached granny flat within the building form within the roof form this design. It was awesome, because what it did was lower our cost of construction. So it lowered our cost of construction and it’s now just a massive money turner for us in our portfolio.
Okay, the other thing that I wanted to look at, and I’ll show you here. So this kind of doesn’t look like a granny flat does it? So this is actually 60 square metre granny flat in the backyard and it’s detached. It was just a beautiful design. It’s quite elevated before landscaping is done. But a really high quality build with high quality finishes. I was able to be able to build a two bedroom granny flat and put in quite premium fixtures.
And that would be a tip that I have for you. It’s to not really go too cheap on the build because what you do is you shoot yourself in the foot. You don’t get the rental return and the return on investment that you could get.
