Will drivers be parking trucks on-site and will they need to park personal vehicles on-site? How many truck parking spaces are needed?
Environmental Impacts – Truck depots tend to require large hardstand surfaces. Erosion and sediment control and stormwater management will be important to planning and mitigating for environmental impacts. Will truck maintenance be provided on site? Will hazardous liquids be stored on the premises?
Outdoor storage – Truck depots sometimes require outdoor storage. What will be stored outside? How will you protect it from the elements? Have you considered security and screening so that the storage is not visible from the road. Some councils do not allow outdoor storage, have you considered any alternatives to outdoor storage?
Traffic generation – How many large vehicles will be coming and going from the site? Will the area for parking and manoeuvring be adequate, particularly swept paths? All vehicles must be able to enter and exit in a forward position. Are the area roads capable of handling the type of traffic generated?
