Having worked on over 40 warehouse and distribution centre projects projects over the past 25 years common compliance rules and questions to consider are:

Car parking and Loading – You have fantastic ideas for a warehouse, but will you have adequate parking? How do you know what is adequate? Do you have a dedicated loading area and room for vehicles, including trucks, to enter and exit in a forward position?

Traffic generation – How many vehicles will be coming and going from your facility? Does that include employees? Will there also be deliveries? What if the council thinks your warehouse operation will place too much burden on existing infrastructure? Is your site near any residential areas? Do you have easy access to a major highway?
3.
Environmental Impacts – Industrial facilities like warehouses often have large hardstand areas for the loading and unloading of trucks. How will erosion and sediment control and stormwater management be handled? These plans will be important to the application. Will there be noise or the potential for any hazardous materials to spill?
4.
Hours of operation – Have you considered your hours of operation? How will your hours impact traffic generation? Will hours for the coming and going of trucks to the warehouse be the same as the hours of operation for employees? How will the hours impact noise generation and the amenity of any nearby residential areas?
