So why build a granny flat? My name is Colin Fragar from Council Approval Group. I really want to answer that question for you today. Perhaps you’ve heard about granny flats or your neighbor has done a granny flat and you’re thinking,

Hang on, I’ve got to get on this bandwagon. Otherwise I’m going to miss out because there is a lot of potential with granny flats still in Australia, and a lot of properties that we can still get them approved for.

It has meant that our mortgage is zero. We actually do not pay any mortgage anymore because of this one granny flat.

Okay, that might not be achievable in every area and it depends on your situation. So there are some better things that we can do for you. For example, a dual occupancy subdivision where we subdivide off the property, reduce debt levels, and things like that.
